Before registering for the NYS 18-Hour Safety class, it is imperative that you thoroughly review all course details provided in the course description. Please refrain from contacting our office via email or phone for inquiries that can be addressed on the course description page.
This registration secures your spot in our comprehensive 2-day course, which satisfies the mandated 16 hours of classroom training and 2 hours of live-fire practice required to apply for a NYS pistol permit. Successful completion of the required written exam and live-fire assessment is necessary to obtain your NYS 18-hour course completion certification. Please note that all attendees are required to report to the school initially, unless otherwise directed. You will receive a phone call to arrange payment for this course.
For individuals without an existing NYS permit who are applying for the first time, there may be a requirement to use non-lethal training ammunition. An additional $200 range fee, covering the use of training firearms, ammunition, ear/eye protection, etc., will be due on the first day of class.
What to bring: Please ensure you bring your NYS ID and, if applicable, your pistol permit. We recommend dressing warmly, as our classroom is maintained at a cooler temperature.
